Siding Replacement in South Jersey

Siding replacement means taking your home down to the bare wall and building it back the right way — not just hanging new panels over old problems. We serve Cherry Hill, Voorhees, Marlton (Evesham), Mount Laurel, Moorestown, Haddonfield, Medford, Cinnaminson, Washington Township, Gloucester Township, Collingswood and Deptford. On every job we remove the old siding, inspect and repair the wood underneath, install new housewrap and flashing, then install the siding and trim you chose. You get photos of every hidden step, so you can see exactly what you paid for.

What does a complete siding replacement include?

A complete job is a wall system, not a cover-up. Here is what that means on your house, layer by layer:

  • Tear-off. Tear-off means removing all of your old siding and trim down to the sheathing. This is the only way to see the true condition of the wall.
  • Sheathing inspection and repair. Sheathing is the wood paneling nailed to your home’s framing. We check every square foot for rot, softness and mold, and replace damaged sheets at a unit price you approved up front.
  • Housewrap. Housewrap (also called a water-resistive barrier or WRB) is the layered sheet that blocks wind-driven rain while letting water vapor escape from inside the wall. We install it with taped seams and correct overlaps.
  • Flashing. Flashing is thin metal or membrane that directs water away from windows, doors, roof lines and other openings. Most wall rot we find traces back to missing or wrong flashing — not bad siding.
  • Siding. The material you picked, installed to the manufacturer’s written instructions: nailing pattern, clearances and expansion gaps included.
  • Trim. Corner boards, window and door casing, and the transition pieces that finish the look and seal the edges.
  • Cleanup. Daily site cleanup, a magnetic nail sweep of the yard and driveway, and full disposal of the old material.

Should you tear off, or install over the old siding?

Some contractors will offer to install new siding right over your old siding. It is cheaper and faster, and in a few cases it is allowed. But here is the honest trade: when you cover the old wall, you cover everything wrong with it. Rotted sheathing keeps rotting. Missing flashing keeps leaking. You just can’t see it anymore.

What happens when you find hidden damage?

Almost every tear-off in South Jersey turns up something: soft sheathing around a window, an ant-damaged corner, a roof line that has been leaking for years. The question is not whether damage exists — it is how your contractor handles it. Here is our system:

  1. We photograph it. Every problem area gets photographed before anything is touched, and the photos go into your job file.
  2. We show and explain it. You see the damage, what caused it, and what happens if it is not fixed.
  3. We price it from a sheet you already have. Repair work is billed at unit prices — for example, a set price per sheet of sheathing replaced VERIFY: SJCC price book, current rev — that are printed in your written proposal before work starts.
  4. You approve it in writing first. No repair happens without your sign-off. No surprise line items on the final invoice.
Why this matters: the most common siding complaint we hear about other companies is a vague line like “wood repair — T&M” that turns into thousands of dollars. Unit pricing agreed in advance is how you keep control of the budget.

What does a typical week look like?

Most single-family homes take one to two weeks of on-site work, depending on size, material, weather and what we find at tear-off VERIFY: SJCC production schedule norms. Here is a typical rhythm so you know what to expect:

  • Day 1: We protect landscaping, windows and AC units, set up the dumpster, and begin tear-off.
  • Days 2–3: Tear-off finishes. We walk the open walls with you, photograph any damage, and get written approval for repairs at the pre-agreed unit prices.
  • Days 3–4: Sheathing repairs, then housewrap and flashing at every window, door and roof line. You get photos of each flashed opening.
  • Days 4–7: Siding and trim go up, elevation by elevation. The site is cleaned every day, not just at the end.
  • Final day: Punch-list walkthrough with you, magnet sweep, warranty paperwork, and your complete photo record.

Weather and permit inspections can shift the schedule; we tell you the same day, not after the fact. More on replacement timelines →
